What excuses do you make when it comes to understanding yourself and your service for God? Do you often remain silent in order to avoid conflict? Or when you make a mistake do you allow it to roll around in your mind for ages convincing you that you are a failure. Maybe you often say ‘yes’ to things when you know you should say ‘no’, but you don’t want the other person to think badly of you. All these things are limiting self-perceptions, which hold us back from all that God wants to do in and through our lives.
I believe that when Paul says in Romans 12:1-2 ‘Be transformed by the renewing of your minds’ this is what he meant. It is as if he is saying to you and me – don’t let these things rule you and paralyse you from your service of God.
So, what limiting beliefs are holding you back from being the person that God wants you to be and to serve God in the way that he designed you to serve him?
Take some time today to reflect on what these things might be. Ask God and a friend who knows you well to help you identify what your limiting self-perceptions are.
Then think about how you are being transformed by the renewing of your mind in these areas? What do you need to do to make sure that these limiting beliefs can be changed into empowering beliefs?
