A friend recommended this book to me and so I ordered it from Amazon. I must say I was a little disappointed when it came in the post, as it is a very small book only 100 pages long, but don’t let the
size put you off.
It is packed with interesting and helpful insights into the leadership that Jesus role modeled for us. The author says that he wants the book to help the reader become more Christ-like and I feel that this book could go some way to achieving this if the Reader reads it with an open heart and mind.
It looks at various issues including; knowing God’s timing, achieving greater intimacy with the Father, realizing your purpose and examining your motives as a leader.
The book is divided up into various sections that look at the different seasons of Jesus’ leadership; I especially liked the way that the author got me thinking about ‘the silent years’ and how God is preparing us long before we even get into a leadership role. This also helped me to reflect on how I help to develop people with leadership skills during their ‘silent years’.
At the end of each chapter there is a series of questions that help the reader to apply the learning from that chapter. The author uses the Bible to support his thinking and does this in a very clear way.
It is an easy book to read and because of its size can easily be read over a cup of coffee. So why not order the book and when it comes put the kettle on and treat yourself to some inspirational words from McAlpine and see how God speaks to you through them.
