I am really privileged to live in a place where there are an incredible amount of brilliant and inspirational women. So it was really great to meet up with a small bunch of these fantastic women at the beginning of March. We simply had lunch, chatted, prayed and shared some of who we are and what we’re in. The day before this regional group I had spent time with some other inspiring Christian women looking at the issue of women in leadership. One of the really poignant things I took away with me was the challenge to keep ‘celebrating’ each other as women. It can be so easy to dismiss others, or be jealous of them or seek to be competitive. Jesus was very wise when he talked about people knowing who his disciples were because of their love for one another!
The Bournemouth regional meeting was an opportunity to celebrate each other in the complex and diverse situations we are in. There is something very special about being with, and sharing in the journey of others. We shared stories of God’s providence, of calling and grace, of challenges and heartache. We upheld each other as unique, gifted women and resolved to continue to do so. I came away from the meeting inspired, supported and loved.
I would certainly encourage others to seek opportunities to meet with other like-minded women – to celebrate each other and be celebrated.
