Nearly the end of the summer! We'll have our usual monthly update on September 1, but for now here's the final Friday summary.
- I loved Ruth Wells' account of her nipple adventure - how she challenged an inappropriate poster with amazing tenacity and sets an inspirational example to us all.
- The Chartered Management Institute's latest salary survey predicts that equal pay for women is still 57 years away - how depressing! If you want to know how you can tackle that, you might like their Ambitious Women's Toolkit. And if you have problems with the word ambition, particularly when it's linked to women, try reading this book!
- Record numbers of women are standing in the Afghan elections in September, in spite of facing opposition and even death threats. Read more about it in this Guardian report.

The Sophia Network exists to empower and equip women in leadership, and to champion the full equality of women and men in the church.
The story about the nipple adventure was an inspirational tale of perseverance - well done her!
Once there was a "blue night" at the social club of a nearby psychiatric hospital (it's a regular feature), and a poster of a woman stripping was put on a fence at the centre of our village - I first noticed it when walking the 5 year old daughter of a friend home from school: she asked me what the woman was doing. I couldn't get anybody to take the poster down so I did so myself, scanned it and sent it to our local newspaper, and there was a right royal blow-up. But the poster hasn't reappeared.
