Pinkstinks is a 'campaign and social enterprise that challenges the culture of pink that invades every aspect of girls lives.' Their current website is for parents and aims to raise awareness of the toxic gender stereotypes that are promoted to girls in the media and celebrity culture and what can be done to combat them. They are in the process of creating a website for children called cooltobe.me where they'll tell the stories of alternative role models for girls that will 'inspire motivate and enthuse girls about the possibilities and opportunities open to them.' Pinkstinks has been started by twin sisters Abi and Emma Moore and was born when Abi was working for CNN. She was filming a scientist called Naomi Halas who was pioneering a new way of treating cancer, but at the time the woman dominating the news was Paris Hilton who had just been released from prison. You can download some of the stats and research that has inspired their project here, and you can find their t-shirts, mugs and bags here.
